Preparing for my mastermind group on Intentional Living by Dr. John C. Maxwell inspired me to write my own journey of significance. I am on chapter 3, which says that we can dream big but be willing to start small.
In April 2015, I took my courage to start the first mastermind group on 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by Dr. John C. Maxwell. I was greatly inspired by John’s leadership philosophy: everything raises and falls on leadership, and a leader touches the heart before asking for a hand. In the short 2 months since joining John Maxwell’s coaching program and learning in depth John’s leadership principles, the way I worked and managed my team was transformed. I saw that if it helped me, it would help other managers.
My passion draw 10 other managers to sign-up for the mastermind group. Those 10 managers eagerly got together every week for 1 hour. We studied, discussed, debated, brainstormed, and found ways to apply to our work. It was a great start.
However, I hit a rough road with the next mastermind. There were 10 signed up. Only 3 showed up and finished all the way through. Sometimes sitting alone in the room waiting for people to show up gave me a second thought. This second thought was real when no one showed up. I was doing the mastermind as I truly believe that it would help other leaders and it was the service from my heart to them. It was indeed this service from my fearless heart that kept me going.
Fast-forwarding the time, my most recent mastermind group graduated 18 leaders. The members were committed and took it all the way to completion.
My current mastermind group on Intentional Living has 18 members including managers, engineerings, admin, and project manager. One member who graduated from the last mastermind group even asked if he could bring his son to study with the group.
As I looked back, I did believe big. I did not know whether I started small or big. I just started. Now the mastermind group on leadership has gone through 4 different books and we are on the fifth, all by Dr. John C. Maxwell. I will keep serving from my fearless heart to make a difference with people who want to make a difference.
